Zotero Citation

Zotero Citation is an open-source plugin designed to simplify academic citation management between Zotero and Microsoft Word. It helps researchers identify which library references are already cited in an active Word document. The plugin creates temporary document-specific collections containing cited items from the user's personal library. A dedicated citation column displays references using numerical or author-date citation formats. Users can insert selected references into Word with a keyboard shortcut or drag-and-drop interaction. The plugin also supports citing the parent reference of an attachment currently open in Zotero's PDF reader. Its integrated workflow reduces switching between applications during manuscript preparation. It complements Zotero's existing word processor integration with faster reference selection and citation tracking.
