XY is an interactive Python visualization library designed to handle both everyday charts and extremely large datasets. Charts can be created through a declarative API or familiar Matplotlib-style conventions. A Rust processing core dynamically determines how much data the current screen resolution actually needs to display. Large datasets can be rendered as bounded density or decimated views, while zooming retrieves finer details and original rows. Interactive capabilities include panning, zooming, hovering, selections, crosshairs, callbacks, and linked charts. Visual styling can be controlled with Python, CSS, or Tailwind, and charts can appear in notebooks or web applications. Finished visualizations can also be exported as HTML, PNG, SVG, or PDF.
