Sensey is an Android library that simplifies sensor events and gesture recognition. It removes much of the registration, listener, lifecycle, and cleanup boilerplate normally required by Android sensor APIs. Developers enable independent plugins through a concise Kotlin DSL and receive strongly defined gesture events through callbacks. Coroutines and Flow support provide lifecycle-aware streams that pause, resume, and clean themselves up automatically. Jetpack Compose applications can collect the same events through a dedicated effect API. The library recognizes gestures involving shaking, flipping, movement, proximity, orientation, tapping, swiping, sound, steps, rotation, and other device interactions. Its documentation and sample application demonstrate configuration, parameters, and multiple simultaneous gesture plugins.

Features

  • Lifecycle-aware sensor registration
  • Plugin-based gesture detection
  • Kotlin DSL configuration
  • Coroutines and Flow integration
  • Jetpack Compose support
