Open Headunit is an open-source Android application that transforms an Android tablet or phone into an Android Auto receiver. It allows users to display and interact with Android Auto from another compatible Android device. The software supports wired USB connections and several wireless projection methods, including Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot connections. Wireless Android Auto dongles provide an additional connection option. Users can access compatible navigation, communication, and media applications through the projected interface. Advanced settings help manage wireless connectivity and device-specific connection behavior. The project also supports Android Auto's developer headunit server and alternative startup methods for certain Android versions. It revives and extends an earlier open-source headunit implementation.
