Nyrna is a free, open-source application designed to suspend and resume running games and software processes. It provides functionality similar to the pause features found on modern gaming consoles. Users can temporarily freeze games that do not include built-in pause controls, including certain single-player titles. The application can also suspend demanding background processes such as video encoding, software compilation, and 3D rendering. Suspended programs stop consuming CPU and GPU processing resources while retaining their contents in system memory. Users can resume suspended processes without restarting their applications or losing their current progress. Built with Flutter for Windows and Linux, Nyrna helps users manage resource-intensive tasks and temporarily interrupt otherwise unpausable activities.
