gulp-rev

gulp-rev is a Gulp plugin for applying content-based revision hashes to static asset filenames. It transforms names such as unicorn.css into versioned filenames containing a hash derived from the file contents. This technique supports long-lived browser caching because changed files automatically receive new URLs. The plugin can generate a manifest that maps original asset paths to their revisioned equivalents. Developers can merge manifests, customize their format, and access both the original file path and generated hash during a Gulp pipeline. It works with common assets such as CSS, JavaScript, images, and other files processed by Gulp. The project is considered feature complete, so new functionality is generally not being added.
