Emoji Picker Element is a lightweight emoji selector distributed as a standards-based web component. It supports Emoji 17.0 where the operating system provides compatible glyphs and can also display application-defined custom emoji. Emoji data is stored in IndexedDB, reducing repeated downloads and keeping the full dataset out of memory. Native system emoji are rendered by default, with optional support for custom emoji fonts. The component includes accessibility features and can be used without a framework or bundler through a simple script import. Developers can customize locale, data sources, skin tones, category ordering, and emoji collections. A separate database API also enables emoji search without rendering the picker itself.
