AudioNoise is an experimental collection of digital audio effects created by Linus Torvalds while learning the fundamentals of digital signal processing. The project grew out of work on a digital guitar pedal but currently emphasizes software simulation over hardware development. Its effects intentionally use simple techniques such as IIR filters and delay loops rather than heavy FFT processing or machine-learning models. Processing generally follows a single-sample-in, single-sample-out design aimed at minimal latency. Some filters approximate analog effects, such as phasers, through simple digital all-pass and RC-style behavior. The repository contains C code, audio material, tests, scripts, and a Python visualization utility. It is explicitly presented as an educational experiment rather than a professional audio-effects suite.
