    I'm using NP++ 5.4.5, Windows Xp SP3 and 7-Zip 4.65.
    I've replaced Windows Notepad with NP++ following official instructions.
    Everything works fine, but if I try to open a txt file from within 7-Zip File Manager (doubleclicking the txt file) NP++ opens with a blank file (new 1).
    To reproduce just open a compressed file containing a txt with 7-Zip and doubleclick the txt.
    It shouldn't be a 7-Zip's problem as soon as it worked fine with windows notepad.

      Does changing the behaviour of the open/save directory help? I'm sure the problem is that Notepad++ looks for the file in a folder it is not in, because its behaviour may differ from Notepad in this respect.

      I'm sorry but don't get what you mean.
      I also think that Notepad++ looks in the wrong directory.
      But what you mean by "changing the behaviour of the open/save directory"?
      I've placed the compressed file in c:\ and it still happens.

      Try setting the editor in 7-Zip
      7-Zip File Manager: Tools -> Options -> Editor tab: specify path to Notepad++
      In 7-Zip File Manager right-clicking a file and selecting Edit will use Notepad++
