notepad problems; lost work

I use notepad ++ to edit files on a standard linux server. I moved a file from one location to another. This resulted in problems editing files, many attempts to reconfigure, including about 4 re-installs, and finally I found that an important file was truncated when downloaded (then when auto-saved, of course destroyed the original).\

Problems like this have happened before when I move a file.

There are important and serious destructive gremlins in Notepad++.

    Beware.

I've concluded that the ftp_synchronize plugin of notepad++ is flaky, so I've reconfigured by connecting through ftp using WinSCP, and setting Notepad++ as the default editor for that product. WinSCP accepts local saves as synchronized saves to server, IOW I get the autosave functionality, without (hopefully) the flakiness.

      Hope this helps.

Remote file handling is done via FTP_synchronize, a plugin which, though a part of the standard distribution, is _not_ part of Notepad++. His maintainer can no longer tae care of the bugs.

Anyone able to patch or rewrite, please contact donho.

Thee is another plugin for FTP, called FTP Explorer, but it is ANSI only and I hve no idea whether it is more stable. FYI.
