Sorry for the title, it doesn't allow enough room for a proper one.

Notepad++ desperately needs to have an option to disable the "Line change state vertical bar". Now in certain instances it may be useful, but for many others, it's just simply unbearably irritating. I can't even find a way to hack the program's files to force it to disable it. I had to downgrade to 5.2. Hopefully there will one day be an option.

  You can disable the bar via the plugin menu. Plugins, Change Markers, Disable Plugin will disable the functionality. If you want you can also remove it from the plugins directory, but disabling it will have the same effect.
