    This is a great program, but I cannot find a shortcut to enter current date and time, a feature available in most other editors I have used.  Can anyone help me?

      My case confirms the bug in "TextFX", as described with precision by "cchris" on 2009-08-06 09:32; in my NPPP 5.3.1 UNICODE, with "Format > Encode in ANSI", under "NPPP > TextFX > TextFX Insert" I have 5 items:

      - the 2 "Date & Time" items do return Date and Time (albeit incomplete and unstandard, see my next posts)
      - but the 3 "path" items ("Current Full Path", "Current File Name", "Current Directory") only return the 1st character ("C", "v", "C" in the "C:\TEMP\very-cheap-cars.htm" file).

      1) Currently in "TextFX":
      ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
      In my NPPP 5.3.1 UNICODE, with "Format > Encode in ANSI", under "NPPP > TextFX > TextFX Insert", I currently have 2 "Date & Time" items:

      - "Date & Time - short format", that returns "09:46 Wed 26 Aug 09"
      - "Date & Time - long format", that returns "09:46 Wednesday 26 August 2009"

      2) Proposed for "TextFX":
      ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
      I would propose to add a 3rd "Date & Time" item, "eMail Format", being the format used in 99% of the email messages headers in the world (check by yourself, "Ctrl+F3" in any message in Outlook Express), defined in http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5322#section-3.3 "Date and Time Specification", and named "r" in the PHP "Date" function, example:

          Wed, 05 Aug 2009 08:09:03 +0200

      While RFC5322 permits to drop 2 of the leading zeros (day and hour), I recommend to always write them all (the only eventual exception being the Short Format). Oppositely the TOG ("+0200") is mandatory and CANNOT be omitted or shortened or replaced with the TZ (Time Zone). Details in http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=450107#post3243632
      "PST and PDT; TZ and TOG; UTC and GMT; Internet Date & Time; PHP date".

      Accessorily, RFC5322 writes "Date and Time", not "Date & Time".

      BTW notice that omitting the comma, like in:

          Wed 05 Aug 2009 08:09:03 +0200

      is compliant since the sequence "Wed, " (day of week, comma, space), being optional in RFC5322, can be ignored, hence can also be replaced with anything else, e.g. "Wed ".

      Finally "NPPP > TextFX > TextFX Insert" could have THREE "Date and Time" items:

      - Date and Time - Short Format -> 8:09 GMT+2 Wed 5 Aug 09
      - Date and Time - Long Format -> 08:09 GMT+2 Wednesday 05 August 2009
      - Date and Time - eMail Format -> Wed 05 Aug 2009 08:09:03 +0200

      You can also use http://www.rcis.co.za/dale/tclockex "TClockEx". That little gem uses very small resource, never fails or crashes or freezes anything, fits elegantly in a small space of your Systray (at least in the Classic Windows interface), lets you add the Date and Time with a click in any application, in the format that you have previously defined exactly as you wish with a great versatility (including all imaginable time formats, with line breaks, centering, user-defined strings, etc). Example in my sig (I click in TClockEx, I paste in my document, then I add 5-10 secs by hand, then I click "Send" right when my TClockEx displays the time I just edited):

      Sorry my error: RFC 5322 (or 2822) allows to drop just ONE leading zero, the one in DOM (Day Of Month, officially "day")
      The best way IMO to avoid any errors is to NEVER omit ANY leading zero

      TextFX does this, but it is broken in the Unicode version at least, so that you get onlyy the 1st character. A long standing issue.

        There must be some other factor. I'm running Notepad++ v5.4.5 Unicode, and I'm not having problems with TextFX's timestamp. I had to remap Ctrl-F5 to "Date & Time - short format" but that's all I had to do to get it to work like before.

      The only 2 entries that work for me are the 2 time stamps at the bottom. The other 3 about directories  return the 1st character.
