    Hi,
Congratulations for this work (never enough :-) )

    To reproduce crash :
    Need the 2 views.
    1) Right click on one file tab in one view > select "read only" (sorry, I use french langage)
    2) Press 'Alt-D' to perform comparaison
    3) It crashes

I just tried that, and files match. Are you using the latest version of Compare? If you rename all dll's to .dl's except Compare's, does the crash still occur?

Also knowing the OS version may help.

npp 5.4.5 Unicode (installed with installer)
Compare plugin 1.5.4 (but in file ComparePlugin.dll, it is 1.5.3.1 and a field is 1.5.3.2)
      Windows XP Pro SP2

      I removed all other plugins.
It is really Compare plugin wich causes crash
      "win32 exception : acces violation"

      May it help.

      Hi MMTsuchi,

I've tried to reproduce your issue, without success.

On my computers (one with XP and one with Vista), I haven't any issue with comparing read-only files. Maybe your issue is caused by something other than Compare/N++, or maybe this is caused that something odd.

BTW, can you give me the file that cause this issue ?

      Best regards,
      Jean-sébastien

        Same here.
        I can not reproduce it.
Could you remove all the plugins except Compare, then try again?

        Don

This is exactly what I did.

I find a detail To produce crash  : enable "align matches" in compare plugin submenu.

            Hi,

Mine is working even with align matches (a feature I never uncheck).

When N++ crash, can you save the dump it generate and send me it to me and to Don.

            Best regards,
            Jean-Sébastien
