I just started using Notepad++. When I select some text for copying to the clipboard, all identical entries become highlighted with the same (or almost the same) green color. That's fine and could be useful. When I return to the window after pasting the copied text somewhere, I often forget exactly which was the line copied (because they the highlighting is pretty much the same). Is there a way to change the highlighting so that the text selected for copying appears different than the identical text entries.

It's not wrong, it is canadian or british, as opposed to US.
The issue of choosing a spelling convention and enforcing it throughout has been raised on Open Discussion too. Any choice being made will irritate half of the people involved, but the current anarchy may not be any better.

Yeah, I've been using NP++ for about 2 months now and it is kinda distracting. I would also be interested in changing the color it uses.

Setttings -> Styler Configurator -> Global styles, Selected text colour. Change background as you see fit in each theme file you use.
There is a way to make this background translucent, but it involves a synthetic macro.
