Try this:
- Settings -> Preferences
- inside the "Global" tab, you'll find a box for Toolbar (having 4 radio buttons)
- set it to the one you like (I use "Small standard icons")

Hi,
The settings suggested by gthm159 did not work for me. Toolbar was not coming back.
Upgrading to the latest version (5.4.4) got my toolbar back.
