I'm a big fan of notepad++, but this is really annoying me. Is there any workaround to this bug?

  Let me see if I got it. You have two documents opened on different tabs, probably doing different things on each, and wish the screen position of the caret remains the same on switching tabs?
  
  I can't se how I'd do that, apart from pressing say Ctrl+Home after each switch. But I cannot see why either. Could you elaborate?

    Perhaps some previous version of the File Switcher Plugin is active, or some other Plugin.
    
    Temporarily rename the plugin folder and see if it still happens.

  The caret was jumping to the top every time I switched tabs, Chris. My problem was detected by "Fool4UAnyway ": a previous version of the File Switcher Plugin was active. I just renamed the file and everything got back to normal.
