When I right-click and choose edit with Notepad++ I get an error message titled "CreateProcess" and the message says "The requested operation requires elevation." I hit OK and I get another messagebox titled "Exception :" and the message is "1002" I hit OK and it opens the file... like normal. It does this everytime, so I tried setting it to run as admin under compatibility. This gives a new error, the new error messagebox is titled "Notepad++ Extension: Error" and the message is "Error creating process: nppcm.dll needs to be in the same directory as the notepad++ executable"

I double checked, and nppcm.dll is in the same dir, the only difference with this error, is it doesn't open the file like normal. Wondering if there's a workaround, or is this a bug that needs to be fixed?

I see the same problem with Win7 x32 - running as administrator using "run as", doesn't cause it to error but it's no good for clicking on files directly

I see this same behavior on Windows 7 build 7100.

To work around it for the time being, I just leave Notepad++ open. The only time this warning is presented is when an associated filetype is double-clicked from explorer, and notepad++ is not already open. While not everyone will elect this "workaround," it's acceptable to me because I have any number of documents open in NPP at anytime already.

I'd still probably file a bug if you haven't already. Fortunately it's not a debilitating condition; one can click through the two warning boxes and files will open up just fine still.
