We have created the VMware appliance using a Linux VMware Server 2.0 and we've tested it on Windows using VMware player 2.5.2, so everything should basically be working OK.
Please note that this is not the final V3.4 release, which is scheduled for end of September 2009.
We are now in an alpha/beta phase looking at the "end user experience" with this VM and successively with the other planned installers (http://www.project-open.org/documentation/install_main). We've already identified some (very!) minor issues. Perhaps you could help us and contribute your observations?
Here is the list what we've already found:
- The README.VMware is in Unix format. Windows users will get messy text.
- There are two services failing during Linux boot (network & vmware-tools)
- In the first ("/") page there is no information on memory and IP address anymore
- The Mozilla browser opens with the tabs from the last time.
- We need to check if the Postfix configuration works out on dynamic IPs
- The keyboard and language are configured for German instead of English.
So, we'd be very happy if you drop a note here on this thread if you find issues yourself.
Hi,

Also, please let us know if you'd be willing to:
- Contribute with translation/localization: Please check:
http://www.project-open.org/documentation/developers_localization
- Help checking the installers for different operating systems
Bests,
Frank
