Indeed I can reproduce this bug (under a Chinese xp, use v5.4.3 Unicode version, and text is set as UTF8).
Obviously there's a regression in Scintilla 1.77, which is included in v5.4.x.
I tested Scintilla 1.78, It seems this bug is fixed in this version.
v5.4.4 will be released in one week, this version contains the bug fix.

First of all, the title seems alarming, but it would be really helpful if you would include what the bug is about. What part or functionality in Notepad++ does it relate to?
The same goes for your message. Of course, you could extensively descriptibe the bug, what happens, what not, under what circumstances. Use as many specific words that may help the search engine to find this occurrence or report of the bug.
It would be very inconvenient if someone searches for (a solution to) a bug, but can never find it, simply because it never has been described!

I have the same problem, but in interestingly different contexts. Though I don't understand a thing to chinese, I could easily understand his screenshot. My humble, sincere apologies if the displayed language is anything else.
The reporte bug is as follows: * enter some non latin (here chinese) in Find dialog, normal mode. Then click Find all in ocurrent document
* You get spurious matches that are shown on the Search results window. The circled ideograms do not correspond to the one in the Find text box.
I got the very same thing while looking for \n in extended mode in a dll file by mistake. Looks like the same encoding issue in searches, and it has been already reported iirc.
And yes, somehow it is an alarming bug.

Make sure you have the latest SciLexer.dll
