Just this morning (6:30am GMT+1), GUP is responding with a "yes" for an update to 5.3.1. I've had a quick look, and "http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/update/getDownLoadUrl.php?version=5.3.1" returns

yes 5.3.1 http://puzzle.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/notepad-plus/npp.5.3.1.Installer.exe

Is this the updater getting excited about 5.4? :)
