Does anyone know when or how to configure Windows Vista/WIndows 7 for Notepad Plus to be the default? There is not system32/dllcache to add the executeable to.

Default for what exactly? I know you can set it to be the default for IE source code view and for file extensions you should be able to set it to be the default by right-clicking and Open With... Choose Default Program. So what default do you want it to be for?
