Hi, Ive been using the preceding version for a few weeks and was very happy with it.
So of course I updated to the latest version [5.3.1] as soon as it became available.
However, I found that one of the features I use most frequently, the "find in files" dialog has been compromised by the update.
PRE-531-behaviour:
1. Open a file c:\example\whatever.txt in n++
2. Open the "find in files" dialog (ctrl+shift+f)
3. The "directory" box was automatically set to "C:\example\".
POST-531-behaviour:
1. - same -
2. - same -
3. The directory box is not following the file I selected anymore. Instead it remembers the last directory I used the "find in files" function in.

I should probably add, that I did turn on "follow the current document" in settings ... I also tried setting it to any of the other 2 options, the entire setting doesnt have an effect anymore ..

Yes, I have complained about this change also. It seems like a lot of people are impacted by the change to not set the default directory to whatever directory the current file resides in.
Sounds like the functionality should be changed back, or exposed as a configuration element.

I agree this is an annoying change, and at the very least should be available as a configuration option.
Yes there is a dropdown for recently used directories, but by the time you've got C:\Documents and settings\Username then the rest of the path isn't visible.

this has been driving me insane for weeks now. i'm about to drop back down an older version just because of this.
could we atleast get a button to fill the box with the directory of the currently active file? then you could keep the current behaviour of remembering the last dir, but allow an EASY way to start your search where THIS file is at.

Please check config.xml (in v5.4 RC1 and above) for settings called fifFilterFollowsDoc and fifFolderFollowsDoc ?
They are not yet in the UI, guess they will when 5.4 FR rolls out. Try changing them to something that suits you better.
