I've just downloaded and installed the newest version of the unicode version of N++ (v5.2), but when I run it, I get the error message:
Error in file 'Favorites.dat'
However, once I acknowledge the error (i.e. hit the OK button) N++ starts up right away without any apparent problems.
At the moment the Favorites.dat file resides in the ...\Notepad++\plugins\Config location and is only 1kB in size and was modified on 23/10/2008 ... I haven't modified it (at least, not to my knowledge).
What do I need to do to get rid of this message?
On a separate note, a big thanks to all the guys that continually work on this project and make it possible for us to enjoy a fantastic application.

Delete your explorer plug in. I don't know why but it creates this error. It may just be the new Explorer plug in, I'm not sure. But once I deleted it, this error stopped for me. Also I did not even have a favorites.dat file on my PC.

This is an explorer problem, but you needn't delete explorer. Instead go to plugins>explorer>favorites This will open explorer's favorites window. Make any change. This will create favorites.dat and your problem will go away.

Hi Brooke,
Many thanks for your reply ... it seems to have worked ... like you, don't know what is causing the conflict. Anyway, thanks again.
Best regards,
Jahangir (hatari)
I am having the same issue. I tried creating a Favorites.dat file and tried putting it in all of the directories to try it out.
No Luck.
Anyone else have a trick?
Same problem here. Anyone have a fix for this yet?
