I would like that Notepad++ didn't ask to save an empty, modified, but never saved document.
I use Notepad++ to transfer texts from webpages, clear formatting or taking notes that I usually Cut to other applications and having it asking to save an empty document is really annoying.
Thank you.

Ex. You open a blank document in Word, you type stuff, then delete everything, and when you close Word, it asks you whether or not you want to save the document...
So, it's not just Notepad++, it's other apps too...

Notepad2 is a Simpler version of Notepad++ in my opinion after looking at the screenshots.
Uses the Notepad logo and Scintilla, very simple design...
New bug out for both Notepad++ and Word, hoping the first fixes this bug and probably the latter will ignore this bug, unless someone sends something out..
No purpose, actually, I don't like this bug, I've found it in Word heck of long ago but never reported it out...
If you like Notepad2, then you can use it for your web design, since it is simpler or maybe just Notepad by its own?

If the document was started as a _new_ document, whether is has been _modified_ or not, and is currently _empty_, then, I guess, no-one would object to not be bothered by the question to save this document. After all, this would only create a new, empty file.
However, whenever a document, opened from a file, is modified and currently empty, that should be no reason to _not_ ask the user if he wants to save the _changed_ file. I clear log files, now and then, resulting in an empty file, just to get a clear start again.

While I do find it annoying to be asked if I want to save an empty file, IT CAN BE A LIFE SAVER.
It hasn't happened to me in Npp but in Word I have occasionally deleted the entire contents of a file accidentally and the message to save what is a blank file rings alarm bells when you know there should be something there. Enter Undo. Tra-lah!
Without the 'Do you want to save' message, access to Undo would be lost.
I am for keeping the 'Do you want to save' dialog.

Thank you for implementing this in N++ 5.3RC :)
Have you noticed that Word does that too?

Well, Notepad2 doesn't (http://www.flos-freeware.ch/)
And what's the purpose of asking to save an empty document?

Hi Allen,
I never mentioned it as a bug, I am just suggesting an improvement I would like to see implement in Notepad++
Notepad2, as you say, it's simpler than Notepad++, even though has some really nice features.
br,
Pedro
I'll consider it.

I agree with Fool.
If it is a new, modified, empty file then don't ask.
If it is a new, modified, non-empty file then ask.
I would lose so much data if it did not prompt me.
I can not agree more with both fool4uanyway and im2crazy4u :)

Great :)
Thank you Don
