What operating system are you using and what version?
If you're under Windows Vista, like I am, then you have to run Notepad++ as a Administrator and then update, or download the installer manually, like I do, and update.
Plus, you have to be an Administrator anyways even under XP and 2000 to update...

I have the same issue on XP, but it is because I am behind a proxy. Is there a configuration option so that Notepad++ can be set to use the same proxy as configured in IE/Firefox? Or even its own proxy configuration section.

I missed the last 3 or 4 updates because I didn't know manual updates under the "?" menu item wasn't working. (More precisely, it told me no updates available.) I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but when I looked at the files in the C:\Program Files\Notepad++\updater directory and plugged in the URL http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/commun/update/getDownLoadUrl.php to my address bar (Opera 9.63) it indicated v.5.0.3, which is the one I am using. And when I clicked on GUP.exe it started to download that version.
XP Pro SP3

I'm still on 5.03 and the updater wont update. I guess I'll have to do it manually, but I'm not sure why it stopped working :/
I'm on XP Pro SP3. I updated it manually, so I guess the problem was that the file it checks online was out of date?
Yeah, that's the problem...
It seems as if Don needs to upgrade that...

Hmm...
Then it means that the Notepad++ Updater is offering the wrong version...
Don should update it...
While you're at it, update manually!
