I just upgraded to n++ 5.1, and now my html and xml tags are highlighted with a dark gray background that makes it very hard to read. If you select text, the background becomes almost black, making it nearly impossible to see.
But when I go to the Styler Configurator, I can't find those dark gray backgrounds in the Global, HTML or XML styles.
I installed 5.1, then manually updated to the ascii version, so I wonder if the stylers.xml file is up-to-date.
Are those styles hidden somewhere? Or, do I have to re-install to see them?
Thanks,
-Ken

See if you have the following file (your path might be different depending on your install)
"C:\Program Files\Notepad++\Notepad++.UserManual.chm"
It's pretty skimpy but it might be useful.

I have the same problem in 5.0.3. The fix:
Settings --> Preferences --> MISC --> Uncheck "Highlight Matching Tags" options (bottom right side)
I have not seen 5.1, so YMMV
