I'd like a visual cue that tells me if a line is above 78 characters, like the long line marker in notepad2. Is this a feature? how would i access it? and if its not a feature, can someone make it one?

sorry about that, the terms i used to search first was wrong (but i did do it). Its called a vertical edge, not a long line marker. I eventually found this thread https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4795023 which pointed me in the right direction.

OK, here's what I did: I took two of the words in the title of your message. The message you now refer to was on the first page of the search results (30 in total). I guess you could tell by the title of that message, that it could be related.
I think you can imagine which word in the title is the least efficient to search for.
