I'm sure notepad++ is exelent for those who know what they're doing, but for people who are new to html, and programing its confusing....well, Ive found it confusing
I have been looking for a simple text editor, that I could change the size, colour, style of text I can paste where I need. I thought I'd found the perfect tool in notepad++. I am disapointed, because after hours of playing around with it, I still cant understand how to do what I need to do.
The biggest reason I need a simple text editor is for sending messages, bulletins etc in myspace. (for our band) and need to change the colour of a few words or make some bigger than others.
I thought notepad++ would help me, so I just had to type my message, highlight the word/s I need to change the font/size/colour of and notepad++ would give me the codes, instead of me having to type out the whole code myself.
Can notepad++ help me with this?

What you are looking for is actually not just a text editor, but a simple HTML editor. It might be that your email software (whether you use webmail or a POP3 program like Outlook Express) would do what you need - try opening a composition window (like you would to write a new HTML-formatted email), type and embellish what you need (colors, etc.), and then copy/paste it from there to the composition window in myspace. Does that work?

Osaka: I've tried what you suggest before, I thought that would work but I can't find a way to see the codes. It just copies the text. Thanks for helping.
Gary: I've tried to do it in dreamweaver, but when you view code it is saved in styles, and you've to copy the styles into the tags. Word, I haven't tried, I've tried wordpad, but not word, I'll have a go at that.

Notepad++, with HTML, is intended to be used to edit HTML hand code. What you're asking for is an editor to write HTML for you. You should checkout KompoZer (http://www.kompozer.net/) as I believe that's what you say you're looking for, and it's free.

I couldn't get on very well with KompoZer, I found it was too easy to include extra, repeat, coding which I needed to edit out. I used HTML-Kit before I tried Notepad++, the early version is still free, there are lots of add ons, some of which are useful, and it includes a ftp app as well. Now I'm a little more versed in HTML and CSS I find Notepad++ and LeechFTP or FileZillaClient to be more than adequate.

Not the way you put it. And it wouldn't be my choice either although I don't have to choose since I use programs like Dreamweaver.
I think you want a WYSIWYG. Microsoft Word lets you save as HTML so you don't have to know much. That is the general direction I would start.
