I probably missed this somewhere in the help file or elsewhere, but is there a way to have notepad++ default to .txt as the file type when you're saving something you created on the fly? I don't mind occasionally having to override the default extension when I want it to be some other file type, but I hate having to type *some* extension *every time* I save a new file.

I sympathise with this issue. txt ought to be the default in the type drop down, but there should be an option for a "file" type - i.e. a file without an extension.

I agree, it really annoys me every time since I am used to automatic .txt from Textpad.
