When upgrading from npp 4x to 5, using the npp installer, I hit a glitch I've not seen before on any install/upgrade before (the computer runs Win XP (home - groan) sp3. The upgrade just doesn't "take", leaving me with a system beep when I try to start npp. I used the npp uninstall, have tried reinstalling, with reboots in between; still no luck.
The computer is pretty darn vanilla, with no npp problems in several years of thoroughly enjoyable use. Can someone plz guide me as to how I might /totally/ get rid of npp so that I can start fresh?

Update:
Uninstalled notepad and did a system wide file search for notepad++ and deleted whatever i could find.
notepad++ now works fine.
I'm getting the exact same problem..
