Every time I open NotePad++ on my Windows Vista 64 PC, there is a display issue. As well as the 'new 1' window there are another two 'windows' open taking up most of the screen. They appear to be showing part of an XML file (e.g. '</ScintillaContextMenu></NotepadPlus>'). There is an 'X' to close those anomalies, and on closing the whole NP++ frame can be used by 'new 1'. I wish I could display a screen shot here to show it!
Has anyone else experienced this.
I am using NP++ 5.0.3, but this issue has been happening for the past few versions. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing, cleaning directories etc, but nothing helps.
Thanks
Tim

I renamed the plugin directory (to xplugin), opened NotePad++ and recieved exactly the same snapshot. The plugins were not in the NotePad++ menu, so they were removed as far as the program was concerned.

Is it that bug where dockable windows are shown? If so, I read once some ATI display utility caused it (for use with multiple monitors afaik, but jsut take al ook at all of them to be sure) Disabling the utility prevent the issue from occuring. I dont have an ATI card nor do I have multiple monitors, so I cant really try it for myself

A few more details - Desktop Manager on, Multi-display repositioning off and the problem is not there. Looks like the ATI Dialog Repositioning is the problem.

I get the same problem with Vista 32bit - been like it for a while, shame as I really like this
product and it makes it unusable
Hopefully the author will sort this out eventually - I have a screenshot if it helps?
Cheers
Chris

I have emailed a screenshot, Don. Thanks.
Got it, thank you, Tim.
v5.0.3 works on my both vista machine.
Could you remove all plugins then test it again?

I have an ATI card! Do you have more details?
...and 2 monitors
I have just turned off ATI Desktop manager and the problem dissapeared. Turned it back on and it was back. Looks like it is ATI I need to complain to.
N++ wins again!
