Typing accented characters?

    In Notepad+ and Word, if I want to type (say) an "ä", I type Ctrl-':', then 'a'.  If I want to type "ç", I type Ctrl-',', then 'c'.

    How do I get Notepad++ to do this?  It's a pain having to switch back and forth with charmap....

      You'd have to configure that in windows (Control Panel, Language Settings, Keyboard layout). If you already have multiple keyboards installed, pressing left alt- left shift might do the trick

    hi - maybe I'm being a bit duhhhhhh here - but I can't see how to do this on win7 64bit - I'm running on a laptop (i.e. no num. keyboard)  with a British keyboard layout
