I'm wondering whats the suggested best way to upgrade minor versions like from 5.0.2 to 5.0.3.
Is it enough to just run the installer or should i uninstall the old version first?
In general i have a problem with uninstalling notepad++. one file, i think it is nppcm.dll cant get deleted until a restart has been done after the uninstallation.

For major upgrades (i.e. 4.x to 5.x) I would suggest an uninstall and install. This is just my practice, whereas I believe you can perform the upgrade by just running the installer as Don had commented. Really the uninstall seems to only be required when you run beta code.

Just run the installer to update your Notepad++, no need to uninstall the old one.
Don
but does the same work for a lets say 4.6 to 5.0.3 update too?
