Unable to open .txt files

    Whenever I try to open a .txt file, I get an error message saying "blahblah.txt is not a valid Win32 application."

    HOWEVER, when I right-click and select "Edit with Notepad++", it opens the file fine.

    When I installed Notepad++, I used the option to replace it with Windows Notepad, but it failed to work. Windows Notepad still works fine.

    Specs:

    Notepad++ v4.8.5

    Windows XP Home Ed. Service Pack 2

      There is already a recent thread with the same title (next to the one your started earlier). Perhaps you could have been a little more specific about your problem.

      Update: When the option to open all future .txt files using Notepad (not Notepad++) was used, all text files opened fine. So, something is wrong with Notepad++ somehow.

      Also, I'm a little worried that the replacing Notepad procedure didn't exactly work correctly. Is it possible that, in a matter unrelated to the problem at hand, Notepad might become messed up somehow because it was replaced in C drive?
