A few days ago I got a message from Trend Micro saying that 3 viruses were quarantined. One of the "viruses" listed was file in My Documents called "npp.4.2.2.Installer.exe", whic his the Notepad++ installer. Does anyone know why it thinks NPP is a virus?

Probably a false positive. Have you tried updating your Trend Micro definitions and scanning it again? Also, did you download it from anywhere *other* than NPP's download directory here at Sourceforge? You can also try downloading the installer for the latest version (4.9) and see if it flags that, as well.
If Trend Micro will let you, you can also try uploading the file to a site like virustotal (http://www.virustotal.com/ ), which will scan it using several scanners, to be absolutely sure (and help cut down on false positives).
