How to replace character with new multi line

That page should be updated I guess, v4.9 allows you to type '\r' and '\n' when you use the "Extended" search type (which is normal search but with escape characters).

I haven't tried that version yet. What do you mean by "Extended search type"? Is that what I've been calling the "advanced search" (control+R)? Or is it a new mode of the "simple search" (control+H)? And do you mean that it can be entered into the search string, or the replace string, or both?
Note the comment that was added to section 2.2 of that FAQ. Is that what you're referring to?
