I was trying to find a why to open all documents as read only. Then if need be, I would remove the read only status when I wanted to make a change. I could not find any setting that could be used to set this as the default behavior. I search the forum but did not find any resent info on the topic.
Is this possible and if so, how could it be accomplished?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just really started using Notepad++ on a daily bases and I was hoping that I had just missed a setting that could accomplish this task. The work around adds more overhead for me so I guess I'll just have to remember to turn read only on for each file after I open it.
Perhaps this might be a good feature to add in some future release.

Perhaps the best way to achieve this currently, is mark all your files themselves as read-only, select them and open then in or drag them to Notepad++. Because the files are read-only, their buffers will also be read-only. You can undo both by selecting Clear read-only flag. Both the file itself and the buffer will no longer be read-only then. The bad thing, in my opinion, is, you can't check the file itself to be read-only again from within Notepad++.
