    Hi,

Is it possible for a next release to extend the preference dialogue with a tab indicating the default directories for some functionality?

    I'm thinking about the following:

    - default location of the settings
    - default location where sessions are stored
    - default location where to store files
    - ... maybe more default directories.

Think this would be useful, because currently if you for instance want to save a session, it's unpredictable which directory location will be opened to store the session.  Would be handy if a predefined location could be given.

    Best rgds,

Where would all those defaults have to be stored, then?

Well, one could think of an ini file or an xml file, like it is used so much for other apps/plug-ins.
Can never be an issue, quite straightforward, I would say...

Have a look the way it is done for the style configuration.

I would be a good thing if the directory (handler) for opening and storing sessions is separated from the files'. I can't think of any other category of files or directories now that are used next to those.

I'm not sure if it would be good to store those directories, since this may result in problems when using the portable version of Notepad++.

This could be an issue, I agree.

And yes, maybe the session saving would be the first candidate to have a separate storage location.  But I can imagine there might be more (see the examples I've given).

One such item could be the default location of the projects you're currently working on.

This one is kind of trivial, I think.
This one also triggered me to ask you where you would like to have those stored.
You might want to store that location, too, you see?
