The bug report for unicode input problem is posted over and over again, though this bug is fixed in newest release v4.8.2.
If you have such problem, please remove HexEditor and MultiClipboard plugins from "plugins" directory.
These 2 plugins have the incomparability with v4.8.2 for the non-western characters unicode input issue.
If you find another plugin has the same problem, please let me know.

Hi Don,
just to let you know something I have just observed:
if I start Notepad++ and try to enter Japanese text, it still doesn't work;
however, if I keep Notepad++ open and then select File/new to create a new document,
I can enter Japanese text as expected in the new document.
By the way, I have set UTF-8 as the default encoding for new documents
and I guess this should apply even when I start Notepad++?
I have tested the above with clean installs of Notepad++
using both the zip and the installer on a test Windows installation
with no third-part software (only the basic Windows installation files).
Thanks,
Dario

Hi Don,
thanks for your feedback,
I have removed all plugins
but unfortunately the unicode input bug is still present
when entering Japanese text (in my case).
I have even tested a clean install of Notepad++
using both the installer and the zip versions,
both with and without plugins, with the same results..
Thanks in advance for anything you can do to fix this!
Dario

Hi again,
this is to confirm
that unicode input with e Japaneses characters now works for me.
Rebooting seems to have done the trick.
Cheers,
Dario
