This is the third time I've posted this problem, and no one seems to even want to help me out. I'm going to try one more time, but if I don't get help I'm going to have to find another program which is going to suck because NP++ is hands down the best I've come across so far.
I'm trying to access files with notepad++ from a server using SFTP, so naturally it's a bit slow. The problem I'm having is that Notepad++ keep trying to access these files while I'm working on them! This results in a 5 second freeze when switching documents within Notepad++, or focusing on NP after using another program. Since I'm a web developer, I go in and out of notepad often, creating a tremendous time for me to have to wait for it to stop hanging.
I've turned off the auto-detect file status feature and have tried everything else but to no avail. I just want NP to touch a file ONLY if it's opening or saving it. Is this possible?

Well like I said, if I switch documents within notepad++ or switch to the program itself from another program, it'll hang for a few seconds. If I shut off the network drive, I do not get this problem, and nothing hangs at all. When I turn the network drive back on though, it hangs again. This doesn't happen with files on my local hard drive.

Could you make it more clear?
How can you tell that Notepad++ keeps trying to access files?
Could you also list the plugin you use?

It seems that it's due to Explorer.dll.
Removing it may cure your problem.
