Indentation problem

Hello all. I have a little problem with the indentation. In a normal txt file, if I indented some text, then I de-indent it in a blank line and I make a return, the new line starts anyway with the previous indentation. Example:

    http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/8/9/1334417/indent_test.txt

I noticed it happens not only with normal text settings, but also with other programming languages.

You can disable auto-indent feature in Preference dialog.

Let me be the clever one here, before he complains again. Don, this does not answer his question.

Ok, thanks... but I'm not searching a workaround. I just would know if this will be changed or not. If not, I'll take a look to the source code.

You may also have noticed that this has been reported before.

You may check the 32 results of a search for "empty+line", including the next message:

"RE: No indentation after empty lines"
        in the thread
"New feature - enhanced indentation awareness"
        http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1688819&forum_id=331753

By the way, you can simply undo the automatic indentation by pressing CTRL+Z. This will "restore" the situation you want.

You can insert multiple lines (now) by pressing CTRL+D to duplicate the last empty line.

So it's not a bug, but a desired behaviour?  ?__?

              What is your problem??

It is something you can work around.

It's true, but I would know if it will be changed in a future. If not, I could take a look to the source code to modify this behaviour.

Just read the complete thread. Is that of any help?

(sigh) I have read the complete thread. And it was helpful. But if you read, my question is another...

I just select the text to indent or unindent, then carefully use the dropdown Edit menu to select the function.  Works for me.  Tab key seems too buggy.

I'm currently making a new plugiin which I named it 'Advanced Auto-Indent'. It'll override NPP's internal 'Auto-indent' feature, and will be released in a week. Please check if it would fit with you.

Excuse me, I've not read your reply :-)

This is good, but what I would know if this behaviour is desired by DEVs. It seems to a little strange, but...

      > It seems your question is not of any interest to anyone.

With all the respect, what seems to your does not interest me.

I've asked to developers of Notepad++ if this behaviour will be changed. I'm simply waiting an answer.

I'm not asking to change it at all costs and immediately, so please don't be unpleasant. Thanks a lot.
