I've searched the forums but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. Is it possible already or would it be possible if it doesn't exist to add a vertical line (display only, not editable) at a particular column character width? PSPad has this feature that puts a thin grey line on the background of the text area, so that you know that you've reached a certain character width.
I suppose ideally what I really want is word wrap at a fixed character width but I've ready on these forums that Scintilla doesn't manage user defined fixed width word-wrapping. I've tried using the textfx and pasting '80' to the clipboard but this doesn't quite seem to mimic the behaviour I'm after. If this is the case then the next best thing would be for me to manually deal with the problem by probably explicitly inserting a carriage return once or just before the fixed width is reached. I know that the current character is displayed in the status bar but a visual line would be more convenient.
Perhaps I've misunderstood the existing features and/or problems so any clarification would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, I tried NP++ once before but dismissed it fairly promptly for a reason that now escapes me. Now I can't see why I would have been so hasty as it is a great little program editor. Thanks for all the hard work that has gone into making a superb program.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:

Any chance that the TextFX plugin word wrap could use this displayed vertical edge to wrap by default instead of 72?
I understand it didn't exist when the TextFX functionality was 1st created, but now...
Well gouge my eyes out, stick me in the middle of Linux convention wearing nothing but a "I love Microsoft" T-shirt and call me Bill.
Apologies for my complete stupidity, I shall never bother you again.
Thanks for your swift reply.
**shuffles away in shame to play some more with NP++**
Is it OK as well if I call you a tease-hurt and send you the bill?
