Notepad++ use of Alt+keypad for unicode chars

Typing a unicode character such as the epsilon ε (ε) using the Alt+'+'+'03B3' gives an equivalent letter or a question mark '?' but pasting the copied char from another place, it is ok.
    The document is in utf-8.
Per information, using the Alt+... into the search dialog for instance, it works.

Does someone know where is my mistake?
How to type in any unicode character using its hexadecimal value?
    Thanks in advance

This is a known issue and is being worked on by the developer. Hopefully it will be solved soon.

      Best wishes
