It seems that Explorer v1.62 which comes with Notepad++ v4.7.5 has consuming CPU time 100% problem.
If you have the same issue, please post here your configuration.

There is something which creates big CPU usage.
Today I had light explorer active and after 15 minutes I had to reboot again. Fans started to turn and I checked the cpu usage: 30-50%.
I don't know what it is but it is very annoying.

you should tell us more than your CPU consumtions of Npp. What is about your OS? Do you use some Windows Explorer extension programs like Tortoise? ETC.
It's too less information to find the issue! BTW: Do you have the problem also when opening files via Total Commander?
I have no problems with all of the explorers. I can open files from everywhere with every explorer without such a big CPU usage. I am using XP and I installed Tortiose CVS. What's your OS?
I use Explorer with opened Favorites and Total Commander every day!
Another question: Do you use FunctionList?

I don't use FunctionList as well.
I open files from a ftp server with Total Commander in Notepad++ using the F3/F4 command and when I close these files in NP TC asked me if the files have to be overwritten on the ftp server.
I do so.

Ok, now you told what you have and didn't have installed but can you tell us:
- Do you have the problem when you open local files with Total Commander?
- Do you have the problem only when you open FTP files with Total Commander?
- Do you have the problem when you only work with (Light-)Explorer when work with local files?
- Do you have the problem wehn you work with FTP plugin intead of Total Commander's FTP?

Is that your doing to produce the CPU consumption?
One hint:
In Explorer plugin the CPU consumption on switching between plugins increases with the nested deep level of tree and by big amount of opened knots! You can reduce the consumption by disabling the 'Automatic update' feature in options and by closing some open knots.

Not so good the hear, because it the same problem to me...
Can you please download the latest version of WindowManager 1.1.1? Do you have still the same problems after a while? If so, please explain in lot of details what you do to cause the big CPU consumption?
Best Regards
Jens

It seems the explorer plugin has cpu problems when "favorites" is enabled.
My favorites are enabled every day. I have no issues.

Are you sure it's Notepad++ to consume the CPU resource?
If yes, remove Light Explorer then try again.
I have experience of Explorer plugin hanging Notepad++ while my explorer of windows had problem.
After rebooting my machine it works fine.
Obviously both Explorer and Light explorer plugins depend on Windows' Explorer.
Don
yes I'm sure that it is Notepad++.
I can see it in the process manager.
I often open files in Notepad++ using Total commander F4 command.
I noted that Notepad always has CPU usage when I open external files in Notepad++.
With Light explorer CPU usage of 30-50% after a while.
With explorer plugin CPU usage of 80-100% after a while.

I'm alert :-)
I will let you know as soon as possible.
May'be it is not the explorer plugin.
The troubles are there when opening and closing files from external source (every external source I used).
The cpu went to 50-75%
When I closed the files the CPU did not diminish.
I have to reboot Notepad to resolve the CPU problems.
I have found the problem!
WindowManager.dll !!
I tried every plugin alone with NP++ and WindowManager was the CPU consuming plugin.
BTW very happy that it is not
explorer plugin
ftp plugin
spellchecker plugin
simplescript plugin and the
quicktext plugin.
I could not live without these plugins in NP++
Not so good the hear, because it the same problem to me...

Yes, the same problems.
I opened a lot of files from agent ransack in notepad++
