Generally, I'm not an evangelist of anti-Microsoft, but I don't think it's reasonable that OOXML (Office OpenXML) is imposed as ISO standard by Microsoft since there is already a standard ISO26300 named Open Document Format (ODF).

For those ones don't know about the context, OOXML is a xml format made by Microsoft to specify the document such as spreadsheets, charts presentation, word processing etc...
OOXML has become a standard of Ecma (European Computer Manufacturers Association) in December 2006. Now Microsoft tries to make OOXML as ISO standard (instead of using the existing standard ODF). A final decision will be made in February 2008 by ISO.

    I've already signed the petition. I think that Microsoft want another piece from the cake and i do not want that. There is an ODF as ISO standard and i'm cool with this... I say NO to the OOXML!

  Nothing wrong with a good standard.... if it is good. From what I have read there are quite a few problems with this one.
  
  Surely if there is other standards out there already that cover the same ground why need a new one? Why doesn't Microsoft and co just engage in the current standards instead of trying to invent an un-needed one?
  
  If you are going to make a standard surely it should...
  A) Work.
  B) Be needed.

  I don't like a standard by Sun and IBM, so I won't be signing no petitions. There should be two standards and let the best one win.
