Feature Req: Sort text at specific column

Perhaps it is possible to do this, but if so, I haven't discovered how.
I have several lines of text selected. I want to sort the text based on the value in columns 31-32 for all the selected lines. I know there are other editors that have this feature.
Select the lines putting the cursor at those columns. Then in the TextFX Tools menu select sort, that should do it.
