notepad++ can display utf-8 encoded text but i cant edit in unicode. i mean i get ?????? displayed when i try to type something using unicode font. i tried many things in menu/settings but nothing helps.
any ideas? or is notepad++ not capable of this?

I today for the first time installed Notepad++ and I can type in ą, ę, ó, ... etc. letter (from Polish language, unicode) but failed to type क, त, ज, etc. (from Hindi, unicode)! It seems this is problem with Notepad++ only and not with the settings.
Moreover, while Find/Replace'ing unicode letters, eg. the letter ć, Notepad++ replaces it with c (ordinary c!). In other words, it tries to find 'kochac' (no such word in Polish) when 'kochać' is meant. PSpad has advantage at this point, but overall, Notepad++ is superior owing to lots of features. Good editing! :)

Once again, this is a known issue which is being worked on by the developer. Part of the problem was scintilla-related, part of it has to do with support for Win9x (which is not unicode-compliant). Hopefully a fully unicode-compliant Npp will make it out the door soon :-)
