Is it possible to (permanently) marked characters upon block / column selection by a different color or font e. g. in order to visualize alterations performed in this mode? Thanks a lot for help!

  e. g. I want to highlight characters in different columns which I have selected permanently e. g. after manipulation using different colors and / or fonts.
