Considering this editor does NOT support custom tab stops, I thought tabbing multiple times to reach a particular column was reasonable. That's why I thought setting tab=10, or perhaps 15 or 20, was reasonable. It's been a long while since I coded Assembler, but I AM familiar with it.
For example:
<TAB>ADD<TAB>R1,R2<TAB><TAB><TAB>; This adds R1 to R2
Label<TAB>LOAD<TAB>R3,MyReallyLongVariableName<TAB><TAB>; These comments should line up

No. I am looking for custom TABSTOPS and not just ONE fixed tabulator size. That means you can exactly set the tab POSITIONS just like in any word processing software.

For your example (tab stops at 10, 20 and 60), I recommend setting tab = 10 spaces. This way you'd only have to hit a few tabs to get over to column 60, and your assembler code would all line up. I'd also recommend setting the option to replace tabs with spaces so your code would always look the same no matter what editor you opened it in.

I suggest you use a word processor, then. An editor doesn't need such funtionality, because it can't store these tab positions within the file.
I think that I can understand what thuffir means:
he wants well-defined tabstobs and the proposal of using a tab-size of 10 doesn't make sense in that case.
