I didn't know that why N++ has a bug in version 4.6 and 4.4 (v4.5 I didn't encounter this bug). When opening *.nfo file (a text file that contains the information of the systems, softwares....), N++ has used many resource: RAM, CPU. It made my system barely hang up. I have to end it process in Windows Task manager and it still run. The RAM usage increase from ~3MB up to ~300MB, then decrease to ~50MB and then up to ~350M...., CPU is always 100% for this task. I have to change its priority from normal back to idle and then back normal...a few times to make its process completely exit.

    Please consider this bug.

Have no problems opening .NFO files. (4.6 N++)
The thing is that there is a collision between .NFO type files. There are to different types of files, that have a .NFO extension.
There is a REAL .NFO file, that has a bunch of computer inside statistics, thats being opened by a buildin macro, and there is a text description .NFO file, that follow different distrib releases. As you understand N++ cant open a REAL .NFO file, cause its not a TEXT file, and that leads to a hang or crash.

I had the same happen to me (v4.5) I think this is due to some funky nfo file because some nfo's opened without a hitch but with one or two files the system would hang for a few minutes and then the file would be all black, I had nfo's which opened without a hitch...
Those nfo file that caused Notepad++ to hang would open just fine in notepad though.
